WCVB Wins New England EMMY Awards

WCVB-TV/DT won several awards presented at the New England EMMY awards Saturday night.

NewsCenter 5 won for "Best Newscast" for its 6 p.m. newscast on Dec. 5, 2007, that covered a tanker explosion in Everett, Mass. NewsCenter 5 reporter Kelley Tuthill won two EMMY awards for stories chronicling her battle with breast cancer.

WCVB's nightly Chronicle program won several awards as well, including "Holiday Lights," which was produced by Ann Marie Charland and directed by Gregg Kidd; "Kelley's Story,” produced by Kathy Bickimer and edited by Joe Mozdiez; "Special Education,” produced by Debra Shapiro and hosted by Anthony Everett; "Who Am I?" produced by Debra Shapiro; "Kicking the Bottle,” produced by Clint Conley; and "The Great Vermont Disaster," written by Art Donahue. Art Donahue also won for "Photographer Composite."
