Bears CB Vasher Out Indefinitely With Fractured Hand

POSTED: 11:01 pm EST November 26, 2008

(Sports Network) - Chicago Bears cornerback Nathan Vasher is out indefinitely after suffering a fractured right hand and an injured right thumb in Sunday's victory over the St. Louis Rams.

According to Bears head coach Lovie Smith, Vasher will "be out for a while" after re-injuring the hand in the fourth quarter while trying to tackle Kenneth Darby. The Texas product will be out for at least Sunday's game against the Vikings, if not longer.

The 27-year-old originally suffered a wrist injury in a Week 4 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, causing him to miss three games after undergoing surgery.

This season, Vasher has accumulated 21 tackles and one interception a year after missing 12 games with a partially torn groin muscle. If the Texas product is forced onto IR, it will mark the second consecutive season he has ended his season that way. After playing in all 16 games in his first two seasons, he has failed to play an entire season in his last three campaigns with the Bears.

Corey Graham will start in Vasher's place on Sunday against the Vikings. Graham had started while Vasher missed three games with his prior injury, but the two split reps for the past four weeks.
