BOSTON -- Fewer people will be taking to the roads this Labor Day weekend, AAA of Southern New England said Monday.AAA nearly 34.4 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home this weekend, down 0.9 percent from the 34.7 million who traveled last year. About 83 percent of holiday weekend travelers will travel by car, AAA said.About 1.3 percent fewer people drove more than 50 miles from home during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, AAA said.AAA also announced Monday that gas prices fell again to an average price of $3.62 per gallon for self-serve, regular. It's the seventh consecutive week of lower prices. Gas prices have dropped 46 cents since July 7.
