Judgment Day Nears For Rocky The Pit Bull

Owner Denies Dog Is Dangerous

Louis Carpenito emerged from his Hillcrest Road home in Marshfield with four Chihuahuas in tow. Carpenito said Rocky would remain in the house, and would only provide pictures of the 50-pound pit bull that has been accused of biting four people and another dog.

"We don't want the dog to hurt anybody, obviously. We love him like he's part of the family. He has his own wardrobe and, you know, has his own bed he sleeps in, and so forth,"said Carpenito.

Owner Denies Dog Is Dangerous

Carpenito denied Rocky has bitten several people, with the exception of one incident at the town hall with employee Diane D'Allessandro, who was not available for an interview. The incident happened in front of Town Manager Rocco Longo.

"She reached out like you normally would do to allow the dog to get your scent, to smell you. And, in a quick nanosecond, the dog bit her," said Longo.

"I should not have let her come over, OK? And, I think that the town administrator that was there had an obligation to say something to her, where she was a town employee, that she shouldn't have come over to the dog," said Carpenito.

"To blame anybody but himself, that's absurd. It's his dog," said Longo.

Longo, who is also a dog owner, and the victim's attorney, believe Rocky is dangerous. Attorney Gerard Lane said his client is still haunted by what happened.

"She's still quite impacted by it. She's still in physical pain. She's still unclear as to what's going to be the outcome with regards to her hand," said Lane.

Newscenter 5's Amalia Barreda reported that Rocky's fate will be decided Tuesday at a Board of Selectmen's meeting, where a large turnout is expected. The board has a wide range of options that includes doing nothing, or ordering that Rocky be euthanized.
