BOSTON -- A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the beating death of a man at a sub shop in Lowell during the weekend.Roberto Garcia, of Lowell, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the beating inside Santoro's Sub Shop. At approximately 2 a.m., Lowell Police responded to the sub shop on Gorham Street in Lowell for reports of a fight.

When they arrived, they discovered that the victim, Jimmy Foresti, 38, of Lowell, was unresponsive and suffered injuries consistent with an apparent beating."I think it is sad. There is no need for it," said Diana Rivera, the victim's cousin.Further investigation disclosed that during a fight that had taken place within Santoro's, in which the defendant was involved, the defendant pulled a gun and threatened the life of a second person.Garcia was arraigned Monday on a charge of armed assault with intent to murder and was held on $50,000 bail.Garcia's next court date is set for Nov. 3.
