Kirby Perkins A+ Scholarship Fund

In July of 1997, WCVB-TV lost one of its finest reporters. Kirby Perkins, a long-time staff member died of a heart attack at the age of 49.
Perkins spent most of his distinguished career reporting on the people, places, and things that made our community tick; but his true passion always rested with the "people" part of the job -- specifically with children.

Perkins was an innovator and developed a weekly news segment to honor high school students taking the right road. WCVB calls the segment "A Plus", and each week it recognizes a high school student of great achievement.

Do you know of a high school senior in the Boston metro-area who has overcome tremendous obstacles to excel in their school career? If so, we'd like to know about him or her.

Nominations for A+ are solicited each week on WCVB newscasts following the A+ report. Viewers are asked to send nominations for worthy high school seniors, either via regular mail or e-mail.

If you know a special high school senior, please e-mail us your nomination.
